Norman Patrick Herzog, of Elma, an industrial equipment sales executive, died unexpectedly Saturday en route to Mercy Hospital after becoming suddenly ill. He was 49.
Born in Redford, Mich., the sixth of seven children, he was a graduate of Kenmore East High School, attended Buffalo State College and earned a bachelor’s degree in business from Niagara University.
He became a sales executive for Liftech Equipment in Lancaster, a lift truck and industrial equipment dealer, in 1990 and had a 25-year career with the company. He won several awards as salesman of the year.
A champion swimmer, he set records as a member of the Buffalo State Bengals swim team and won an athletic scholarship at Niagara University.
Survivors include his wife of five years, the former Kristin Marie Caligiuri; a son, Cameron R.; four brothers, Steven, Brian, Matthew and Gregory; and two sisters, Lynne M. Herzog Gallagher and Lisa A. Herzog Urrizalqui.
A memorial Mass will be offered at 9 a.m. Saturday in St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, 5271 Clinton St., Elma.
