NT woman pleads guilty in DWI crash that injured couple

LOCKPORT – A North Tonawanda woman could go to state prison for as long as seven years after she pleaded guilty Tuesday to driving drunk when her car collided with a pickup truck, injuring the elderly occupants of the truck.

Amy K. Mucha, 29, of Robert Drive, admitted to first-degree vehicular assault and a misdemeanor count of driving while intoxicated. State Supreme Court Justice Richard C. Kloch Sr. scheduled sentencing for Dec. 16.

Mucha’s blood alcohol content was measured at 0.29 percent after the Sept. 13, 2014, crash on Campbell Boulevard in Pendleton, when Mucha’s southbound auto crossed the center line and smashed head-on into the pickup truck driven by Edward A. Hastings, now 76. He and his wife Carol A. Hastings, now 73, of Daniels Road, Wilson, both were seriously hurt. Mucha suffered lesser injuries; all three were admitted to Erie County Medical Center for treatment f their injuries.
