Police release surveillance photo of man suspected in Buffalo State assault

Two students were injured during a fight shortly after 2:30 a.m. Monday outside the Student Apartment Complex on the SUNY Buffalo State College campus, University Police Department Chief Peter Carey said Tuesday.

One student was slashed in his arms, back and torso numerous times by the unknown assailant. Another student was bruised, said Carey.

The two victims, both of them students from outside Buffalo and residents of the complex, were treated at Sisters Hospital for their injuries and discharged. Police believe the weapon was a box cutter or razor.

“The victim of the assault was the intended victim,” Carey said. “While it’s still upsetting that the incident took place, it is a targeted assault, so we don’t believe anyone else is in jeopardy.”

The suspect, approximately 18 to 22 years old, stands 6-feet tall, weighs about 190 pounds and has a medium build, according to a police description.
