A City of Tonawanda man is accused of beating a dog bloody with a PVC pipe Sunday night, authorities said.
Dmitriy I. Blyashuk, 20, of Fuller Avenue was charged about 9:30 p.m. with intentionally injuring an animal, a misdemeanor under the state agriculture and markets law, according to a news release.
Officers responded to the residence after complaints by neighbors and found a 2-year-old Husky bleeding from the spine, nose and facial area, police said. When Blyashuk was asked by investigatorsabout blood on his clothes, he replied, “It’s from the dog,” police said.
Officers seized the dog and animal control took it to a veterinarian for treatment of njuries. The dog will remain at the police kennel after its release from the veterinarian, the release stated.
Blyashuk is due in City Court on Sept. 18.
