SILVER CREEK – A 32-year-old Silver Creek man was arrested twice early Sunday after he was found to be drunk and causing damage to property at two different homes.
Shortly after midnight, Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies charged Benjamin Velk with fourth-degree criminal mischief after they responded to a complaint about a disorderly, intoxicated person destroying property at a home on Madison Street in the village. Velk had been in an argument with someone at the home, and allegedly destroyed a porch railing when he wasn’t allowed into the house. He was issued a citation and released to a “sober third party.”
However, three hours later, shortly after 3 a.m., he was again arrested, this time for disorderly conduct for “causing a disturbance and damaging items” at a Front Street address, according to a police report.
He was arraigned on both charges in Town of Portland Court, as Silver Creek and other nearby courts were not available at that time, and he was sent to Chautauqua County Jail.
