Give voters a choice in selecting judges
Two politically connected people are about to be awarded judgeships and the heads of both Democratic and Republican parties have agreed to forgo candidates to run against them. This flies in the face of what a democracy stands for. It also demonstrates why voter turnout is so low and how the perception of corruption and influence are so problematic.
This practice must stop and both parties should go out of their way to ensure every political position is a contest so that voters have a choice. It is also up to the public to run for public office and move toward making that process easier. It’s time for voters to stand up and re-establish what made this country great: democracy!
