The board of trustees of the Burchfield Penney Art Center at SUNY Buffalo State elected Carol V. Kociela chair for a two-year term. Other officers: vice chairperson, Shelley Drake; vice chairperson, Rachel Stenclik; treasurer, David Flynn; and secretary, Scott Goldman. New board members: Robert Budin, Joan Crosby, Martje Visser’t Hooft More, Shaheen (Shine) Karim-Hassanali, John Sacret Young, and Lynn Stievater. The Buffalo Rotary Foundation installed its board of trustees for 2015-16. Ronald H. Caruso, president, R.H. Caruso and Co. Inc., was installed as president and will serve a one-year term. Eck, area manager, National Fuel Gas Distribution Corp., secretary; Carolyn Murray, associate broker, Ellicott Development, assistant secretary; Michael J. Tyrpak, president, Tyrpak Financial Associates, assistant treasurer; and Charles Martorana, Hiscock & Barclay, LLP, immediate past president. Newly installed trustees include Robert D. Eck, area manager, National Fuel, and Robert J. Galdys, CEO of SmartEdge. Ex-officio officers include Laurie Albertson, vice president of Fernwood Capital & Leasing and current president of Rotary Club of Buffalo, and Paul Hurley Jr., retired president of Trocaire College and president-elect of Rotary Club of Buffalo.

Wendel and 3480 Group have entered into a strategic alliance. Wendel is a design and construction firm. 3480 Group, founded by Fulton “Flip” Johnson and Thurman Thomas, is a project management company dedicated to the construction, telecommunications and oil/gas/energy industries. Key components of this agreement are centered on project collaboration, management, design and technology.


Buffalo Solar Solutions recently opened in South Buffalo. The local company, owned by Tyler Uebelhoer, specializes in residential solar installations.


The primary care practice of Dr. Michael J. Maggiulli has joined the family of physician practices managed by United Memorial Medical Center and will continue to see patients at 6966 West Bergen Road in Bergen. Maggiulli is now a provider employed by United Memorial Medical Center.
