Man accused of trying to make a much too speedy trip home

NEWFANE – Niagara County sheriff’s deputies charged a man they say was driving over 100 miles per hour on a country road Wednesday night in the Town of Newfane.

Brian J.T. Meloon, no age or address given, was stopped at 11:39 p.m. on Hess Road and charged with reckless driving and speeding in excess of 55 miles per hour. A court date was set for Sept. 15 in the Town of Newfane.

Meloon was driving northbound on Hess Road, traveling at up to 110 miles per hour, speeding through multiple intersections with cars waiting to turn,” according to a deputy report.

When he was stopped and asked about his speed, he told the deputy he was “tired and just wanted to get home.”
