FMC takes over Future Farmers award funding

MIDDLEPORT – FMC Corp., which operates an agricultural chemical plant in Middleport, announced this week that it is now the sole sponsor of the national Future Farmers of America awards for proficiency in agriscience research. That competition is open to all 7,665 local FFA chapters, including the chapter at Royalton-Hartland Central School, which FMC helped restart last year with a $4,500 grant.

That local grant was one of three to FFA chapters in each of the company’s Agricultural Solutions plant communities in support of agricultural education.

During the Roy-Hart honors program in June, FMC presented $1,500 college scholarships to two seniors, Francesca Bond and Hannah Rausch, for their 300-word essays on “Changes in Agriculture Over the Last 50 Years.”
