Belmont jail inmate turned over to Pennsylvania police

BELMONT – A 25-year-old South Carolina man who was in the Allegany County Jail here has been turned over to officers from a central Pennsylvania town who had obtained a fugitive from justice warrant against him,

Allegany County Sheriff Rickey L. Whitney said Thursday that Richard A. Darringer of Fort Mill, South Carolina, who was in custody in Belmont was turned over to officers from the Shinglehouse Police Department without incident.

After Darringer is finished with criminal proceedings in Pennsylvania, he is slated to be returned to Allegany County for further proceedings in a local case which was not disclosed Thursday by the sheriff.
