Hamburg’s town highway superintendent has filed legal action against the town supervisor over a special Town Board meeting scheduled for Friday.
The meeting, which was called Tuesday, is at 9 a.m., and the board is expected to go into executive session. It has been widely thought that the board would discuss the future of the Buildings and Grounds Department, which is headed by Highway Superintendent Thomas Best Sr.. Best’s son, Thomas Jr., is running for nomnation for a seat on the Town Board in next week’s primary election against Councilwoman Cheryl Potter-Juda.
Supervisor Steven J. Walters was served with the legal papers Wednesday, the highway superintendent said. He said he had received a notice he was to appear at the meeting, and when he texted the supervisor, Walters replied, “Your budget.”
The two sides are to appear in court Thursday.
