LOCKPORT – R. Joseph O’Shaughnessy, the Democratic candidate for City of Lockport alderman at large, has been endorsed by the United Auto Workers.
The owner of Oak Run Golf Club and a former member of the Lockport Board of Education, O’Shaughnessy is running against Republican incumbent Joseph C. Kibler. “We need fresh leadership that will unify the community, our city employees and get down to the business of solving our problems,” O’Shaughnessy said.
In another union endorsement, the Civil Service Employees Association has endorsed Roger L. Sherrie for mayor of Lockport, which Sherrie admitted may not be that surprising, since he just retired after 16 years as the CSEA’s regional director. “I can tell you that every candidate receives fair, above-board consideration,” said Sherrie, who used to be involved with making the union’s endorsements.
Sherrie is facing Michael J. Pillot in a Democratic primary for the right to run against Republican Mayor Anne E. McCaffrey.
