Traffic stop finds suspected drugs and cash

WHEATFIELD – Niagara County sheriff’s deputies confiscated $1,100 wrapped around a baggie of white powder in a traffic stop in the 2200 block of Lockport Road on Thursday evening.

Michael J. Kern, 19, of Ferchen St. was stopped for an expired inspection sticker and operating a vehicle with a suspended license. The license was suspended for failure to appear in Town of Porter Court. The cash and baggie were removed from Kern’s front trousers pocket.

According to a report issued by the sheriff department on Monday, further charges are pending upon lab findings. A return court date for the Town of Wheatfield was set for Sept. 9.
