Cantina Loco gets a temporary makeover

After a Jeep driver crashed into Allentown restaurant Cantina Loco last week, co-owner Mike Andrzejewski could simply have followed the lead of countless other businesses that have fallen victim to a recent spate of crashes and tacked up some standard plywood.

But with the help of a local graffiti artist, Cantina is making the most of the mishap:

A temporary artwork replaces the shattered window of Cantina Loco, one of the latest buildings to suffer a vehicle crash.

UPDATE: The piece is by local artist graffiti artist Ronnie Carlisle, a friend of Cantina co-owner Kyle Mackewicz who participated in the 2013 graffiti and hip-hop show "Cuts and Breaks." The temporary design of a margarita glass accentuated by a collection of abstract symbols, Carlisle said in a phone interview, was simply intended to let people know the restaurant is still open for business.

And it beats a piece of plywood, he said:

"They wanted to have something different, something to stand out in the area."
