A Jeep crashed into Cantina Loco this afternoon, but the restaurant still plans to open for dinner.
"We are opening, a little late, probably by 6," said owner Mike Andrzejewski. "We have a good staff."
A building inspection cleared the business to operate, he said.
No one was hurt in the building, though customers and employees were shaken up, he said, and a table was showered with broken glass. "It's incredible that nobody got hurt," he said. "There were customers at the table five minutes before it happened."
The accident was reported at 3:06 p.m., according to a Buffalo Fire Department dispatcher. Information on the driver was not immediately available.
Andrzejewski said he was told that the driver had stopped the Jeep in the intersection, and appeared to be incapacitated, leading to passersby yelling at the driver. Then the vehicle accelerated and hit the building.
Before the dinner hour, a sign appeared reassuring customers the restaurant was open. "Sorry," it said. "Drive thru closed."
