LEWISTON -- The final round of the Porter Cup promises to be a good one.
Pittsford's Gavin Hall, tournament favorite Denny McCarthy and North Carolina's Carter Jenkins will make up the final grouping Saturday at Niagara Falls Country Club. They share the lead at 9-under 201 after Friday's third round.
Hall, who held the lead for much of the day, fell behind by one shot when he made a bogey on the par-4 15th hole after hitting his tee shot out of bounds.
Jenkins reached 10-under-par with a birdie on the par-4 14th and briefly held the lead on his own after Hall's bogey. Jenkins dropped a shot on the par-3 16th, though, to drop back into a tie.
McCarthy, meanwhile, made the turn at 6-under, but turned it on coming in with birdies on Nos. 12, 13 and 15. He also made a 20-foot par save on No. 6 to get into the final grouping.
Mid-amateur Scott Harvey fell out of contention with a round of 4-over 74 that included an inward 41. Harvey made double bogey on No. 15 after his tee shot went out of bounds.
Virginia Tech's Trevor Cone is a shot off the lead at 8-under 202.
