Garden Notes: News of area clubs and events

The 11th annual Black Rock & Riverside Tour of Gardens will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The event is free and self-guided and features more than 50 gardens. The ninth annual Starry Night Garden Tour of 21 illuminated gardens takes place from 8 to 10 that evening.

The two daytime headquarters for maps, T-shirts, caps, visors and raffle tickets are located at St. Mark’s & All Saints’ Church, 311 Ontario St., and Buffalo Religious Arts Center, 157 East St. Or download a map at brrtourofgardens.com.

A Black Rock History Tour will be conducted by North District Common Council Member Joseph Golombek Jr. at 11 a.m. Saturday. Meet at Buffalo Religious Arts Center; $8 per person. Proceeds will benefit the garden tour. The Religious Arts Center will also offer docent tours from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; $8 per person.

The Black Rock Historical Society, 1902 Niagara St., has free garden lectures and more beginning at 12:30 p.m. The All Saints Roman Catholic Church Parish Festival will be from 3 to 11 p.m. at 127 Chadduck Ave.

Cheektowaga Garden Club will hold its annual picnic at 5 p.m. Aug. 10 at the home of member Denise DeNisco. RSVP by Wednesday, 834-6241. Members are asked to bring a dish to pass.
