The race -- before the race -- starts Monday.
Registration for the 120th annual YMCA Turkey Trot begins Monday, Aug. 3 at 11 a.m.
Runners can register for the 8K race, held in downtown Buffalo at 9 a.m. Thanksgiving Day (this year that's Nov. 26), via ymcabuffaloniagara.org or with paper applications.
Registration closes at noon Nov. 19; paper applications will not be accepted after Oct. 16. The cost is $35 before Oct. 16. After that it goes up to $40.
The Turkey Trot has sold out every year since 2010. Last year it registered the maximum of 14,000 runners. The race is limited to 14,000 because of the fire code in the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center, where the after-party and awards ceremony will take place after the race.
On its website, the YMCA Buffalo Niagara stated that thanks to last year's Turkey Trot, it was able to provide $1 million in financial assistance to Western New York families.
