Four members of the Canisius women’s lacrosse program helped Team Canada make history on Thursday by winning its first semifinal in the FIL World Under-19 Championship. Team Canada defeated Australia, 17-2, in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Sophomore Erica Evans posted game-high totals of six points and five goals to go along with one draw control. Evans has led the team throughout the tournament, posting 29 points and 24 goals in seven games.
Incoming freshmen Tessa Chad and Brenna Shanahan also chipped in a tally.
“Tonight was a total team effort for an entire 60 minutes,” said Canisius and Canada head coach Scott Teeter. “I could not be more proud of the girls and my staff. All their hard work is paying off and we excelled in all areas of the game.”
Canada will meet the United States in the gold medal game on Saturday.
