‘Garden Mystique’ at Artsphere stays in bloom through Aug. 31

Garden Walk Buffalo – the city-spanning event that showcased some 400 gardens throughout the city during the weekend of July 24-26 – might be over. But at Artsphere Studio and Gallery (447 Amherst St.), Buffalo’s botanical glory remains in full bloom.

Artsphere’s ninth annual “Garden Mystique” exhibition, which continues through Aug. 31, is chock-full of traditional paintings, sculpture, photography, mixed media and fiber pieces based at least in part on the region’s love affair with gardening. True to its title, the exhibition chases after the same sense of calm, mystery and connection to the earth that drives people to dig their hands into the dirt. Pieces range from botanical paintings by gallery owner Doreen Deboth and well-known local watercolorists like Carol Case Siracuse to photographs by Max Willig and Janice Fundalinski.
