It’s not easy balancing long-term recording and performance excellence with acting in Oscar-winning films and maintaining one of music’s most meticulously manicured goatees.
But thankfully, such multitasking still works for country king Tim McGraw, who’ll pull his “Shotgun Rider” tour – with Billy Currington and Chase Bryant – into town for a show at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Darien Lake Performing Arts Center. Now touring with an overflowing F-150 load of fan favorites from his “35 Biggest Hits” double-album (as well as tracks from last year’s chart-topping “Sundown Heaven Town”), the man who has sold 42 million albums, married Faith Hill in real life and Sandra Bullock in reel life remains one of his occupation’s top draws. Legions of listeners still want to hear the leather-Stetsoned singer wield his craft on plain-spoken rockers “I Like It, I Love It,” recent requests like tour-titled “Shotgun Rider” or simply the honest voice of a man once anointed the heir apparent to his genre’s goliath, Garth Brooks. On Thursday, they’ll get their chance.
Tickets range from $45 on the lawn to $90 under cover (Ticketmaster, livenation.com).
