Buffalo State College has promoted Marie Curran to the position of Senior Woman Administrator in addition to her role as the school’s softball coach.
Curran will oversee and supervise women’s volleyball and lacrosse in her role as the top-ranking female administrator in the athletic department.
Buffalo State stated via a news release that, “The designation of SWA is intended to encourage and promote the involvement of female administrators in meaningful ways in the decision-making process in intercollegiate athletics. The designation is intended to enhance representation of female experience and perspective at the institutional, conference and national levels and support women’s interests.”
Curran was the first softball coach at the University at Buffalo, guiding the program from 1999-2008. She also has been an assistant coach at Northern Illinois and Creighton.
A native of Chester, Curran is currently a Ph.D. candidate in educational leadership and policy at UB. She also holds a bachelor’s in exercise science from Trenton State, a master’s in sports administration from Canisius and a master’s of library science from UB.
