Niagara Falls resident accused of unemployment fraud

A 22-year-old Niagara Falls resident who collected more than $3,900 in unemployment benefits while working for a retailer has been charged with three felonies, State Police reported Tuesday.

Ziad S. Zabaneh was charged Friday with felony counts of grand larceny, falsifying business records and offering a false instrument for filing.

State Police and the state Department of Labor reported that between Nov. 27, 2011, and July 22, 2012, Zabaneh collected unemployment benefits while working for a women’s clothing store.

Zabaneh was issued a ticket to appear Monday in Lockport City Court.
