The St. Bonaventure women's basketball team has scheduled non-conference home games against Penn State, Georgetown and the University at Buffalo, in addition to an appearance in the Preseason NIT, the university announced Tuesday.
Bona plays eight of its 13 non-conference games at the Reilly Center. Bona opens Nov. 13 at home against Siena in a first-round Preseason NIT game, which was previously announced. Bona will play at least two more NIT games to be determined.
Bona went 15-15 last season and is aiming for improvement due to the return of nine players.
Bona plays host to UB on Dec. 9. Bona lost at UB last season. Big 10 Conference foe Penn State, 6-24 last season, visits Dec. 12. James Madison, which went 29-4 and returns star guard Precious Hall, also visits Bona.
"This is a very challenging schedule that certainly will prepare us for the Atlantic 10," said St. Bonaventure head coach Jim Crowley. "We are bringing some more recognizable teams into the Reilly Center, which will be great for our fans. Just because they're at home, though, doesn't guarantee us anything. We learned a lot from playing teams like this on the road last year so hopefully our team is better prepared for those types of challenges this season."
The schedule (with last season's records in parenthesis):
Nov. 13: Siena (22-13); TBA, NIT games; Nov. 24, Detroit (12-18); Nov. 29, Toledo (19-14); Dec. 1, Stony Brook (17-14); Dec. 5, Georgetown (4-27); Dec. 7, James Madison (29-4); Dec. 9, Buffalo (19-13); Dec. 12, Penn State (6-25); Dec. 19, Colgate (9-22), Dec. 23, Niagara (14-17), Dec. 29, Canisius (10-20).
