JAMESTOWN – Two Jamestown men who were arrested for the drive by shooting of a man as he walked out of a supermarket in the 2000 block of Washington Street about 6 p.m. Friday were remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail in Mayville after they both pleaded not guilty to first-degree assault charges Monday in Jametown City Court.
Alexander Jewell, 23, and Michael R. Robinson, 31, face preliminary hearings in the case in City Court on Friday. Their alleged victim, flown to the Erie County Medical Center in critical condition with two upper body gunshot wounds, remained at that Buffalo trauma center.
Jewell and Robinson were both arrested Saturday by Jamestown police after investigators located the automobile they allegedly were in during the shooting. That car was found abandoned on the south side of the city.
Jamestown police were assisted in the probe by the State Police, the Chautauqua County Forensic Investigation Team, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office and the Chautauqua County District Attorney’s Office. Anyone with information on the case is asked to called the Jamestown Police at 483-7537 or 483-8477. All calls are confidential.
