Applications sought for Buffalo entrepreneurial contest

Bright Buffalo Niagara, an annual event for local entrepreneurs to present their business ideas and mingle with potential investors, is accepting applications for an Oct. 28 expo.

The University at Buffalo started the competition in 2009, with the main event drawing between 250 and 300 attendees each year. This year’s Bright Buffalo Niagara Entrepreneur Expo will take place at Statler City downtown. Selected participants will have the chance to make a one-minute business pitch, followed by a two-hour cocktail party and trade show to network with investors. This year’s event will also feature a keynote address from Daymond John, founder and CEO of the “Four Us, By Us” clothing line and star of the TV show “Shark Tank.”

Companies that have previously participated in Bright Buffalo Niagara include Kinex Pharmaceuticals, Empire Genomics and Graphene Devices. Applications to be considered for the 2015 event should be submitted at brightbuffaloniagara.com by August 7.
