A large residential garage containing several antique cars and motorcycles was destroyed Sunday by an early morning fire in the Town of Royalton that left minor damage to an adjacent house, reported Chief Bill Tobin of the Wolcottsville Volunteer Fire Company.
The garage fire at 9245 March Road was reported at 5 a.m., said Tobin, who was the second firefighter on the scene.
“It was fully involved when we got there,” Tobin said. “We were actually able to save the house with only minor exposure damage.”
Two occupants had already evacuated their house and were nearby watching the fire, Tobin said.
Fifty personnel from seven volunteer fire companies were called to the garage fire that took two hours to control. The garage’s metal roof was a factor, Tobin said.
“Everything in the building was a total loss,” said Tobin. “We came through with zero injuries. Everybody came home safe.”
Niagara County Fire Investigation Team is searching for a cause of the fire. A damage estimate was not immediately available.
Responding to the blaze were firefighters from: Terry’s Corners, Middleport, Rapids, Gasport, Akron, Alabama and Newstead,
