A fire Sunday afternoon routed a family from a Wakefield Avenue home, reported the Buffalo Fire Department alarm office.
The blaze was reported shortly after 2 p.m. when smoke was observed coming from a second-floor window of a dwelling at 157 Wakefield, a few blocks north of Erie County Medical Center, said fire dispatchers.
It caused $100,000 in damage to the structure and $50,000 damage to the contents.
The Red Cross was called in to assist the family.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
