Thomas P. Kane, a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War and a supervisor at Buffalo Niagara International Airport, died Thursday in his Town of Tonawanda home. He was 79.
Born in Buffalo, Mr. Kane graduated from Lafayette High School and the University at Buffalo.
Mr. Kane was attached to the Marines for 12 years – eight of them as a member of the Reserves. For 19 years he was supervisor of aviation fuel systems at Buffalo Niagara International Airport.
An artist, Mr. Kane mined nature, painting and drawing animals. He also enjoyed golf and swimming. Considered a loving man who saw the good in everyone, Mr. Kane taught religious education classes for 23 years at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Buffalo and St. Amelia’s Parish in the Town of Tonawanda.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, the former Marlene Kirsch; a son, Thomas J.; two daughters, Colleen E. Young and Maureen A.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9 a.m. Wednesday in St. Amelia’s Church, 2999 Eggert Road, Town of Tonawanda.
