Elmwood Taco and Subs, a Buffalo neighborhood institution where generations of patrons have enjoyed a late-night burrito or chicken finger sub, is celebrating its 40th anniversary Friday.
The restaurant at 937 Elmwood Ave., near West Delavan Avenue, will have live music under a tent set up in its parking lot and also give away T-shirts during the party from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., said Ron Lucchino, who started ETS in 1975.
The company bought more than 3,000 anniversary T-shirts and is giving them away to customers in the months of July and August.
ETS moved in 2008 from its original location, at 925 Elmwood, a few doors down to its current location in a former Burger King. Lucchino; his wife, Barbara; daughter, Jaclyn Kooshoian; and son, Michael; run the restaurant today, and Ron Lucchino said a family member is at ETS every day of the week.
To expand their brand, Lucchino’s son and daughter last year started making burritos to sell through Premier Gourmet, Dash’s Markets and other retail outlets. Ron Lucchino said he hopes some day to pass the restaurant along to a third generation: His grandson, Enzo, 5.
