BENNINGTON – A 20-year-old Genesee County man was arrested by Wyoming County sheriff deputies Monday in Portville for allegedly making a series of text message and voice mail threats against at least two family members living in the Town of Bennington.
Robert Gerlach of Route, 20, Alexander was charged with two counts of second-degree aggravated harassment. He was released without bail and ordered to return to Bennington Town Court for further proceedings Sept. 14.
According to a sheriff’s department arrest report, deputies were sent to the home of some of the suspect’s relatives on Tinkham Road in Bennington Saturday after Gerlach allegedly sent another text message vowing to come to that house to kill one of his relatives. An investigation indicated he had been sending threatening text messages and voice mails to at least two different family members living at the Tinkham Road address, according to the arrest report.
