Jamestown woman ejected from rear window of her car in crash

KIANTONE – A 19-year-old Jamestown woman was being treated at a Pennsylvania hospital for injuries she suffered when she was ejected through the rear window of her vehicle in a crash on Kiantone Road early Tuesday afternoon, according to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office.

Rachel E. Burt of Bowen Street, Jamestown, alone in her vehicle and allegedly not wearing a seat belt, was traveling north on Kiantone Road shortly after 1 p.m. Tuesday when she failed to negotiate a curve in the road and slid sideways about 150 feet, investigators said.

Burt’s vehicle then hit several brick light pillars and rolled over after hitting a raised driveway, according to the owner of the farm where she crashed and who observed the incident. Her vehicle thern rolled backwards until it smashed against a wooden fence and she was ejected through the back window, landing about 25 feet away in a hay field, according to the sheriff’s office.

After being treated at the scene by a Kiantone Rescue crew she was flown to the Hamot Hospital in Pennsylvania by Starlight Helicopter.
