Five men and an underaged couple were arrested by Erie County sheriff’s deputies for drunken driving or underaged drinking while driving between early Saturday morning and late Sunday night, according to Scott Zylka, department spokesman.
The five men were separately stopped during incidents in the towns of Clarence, Concord, Elma, and two in Collins between 12:25 a.m. Saturday and about 11 p.m. Sunday, according to Zylka.
The underaged couple was stopped by Deputy Lee Richard after the driver ran through a stop sign in Clarence about 2:20 a.m. Sunday. The deputy reported finding beer, wine and marijuana in the vehicle. Both were charged with unlawful possession of alcohol by a person under 21 and unlawful possession of marijuana before being released to the custody of their parents pending Clarence Town Court proceedings in several weeks, according to Zylka.
The five male drivers separately arrested for drunken driving and traffic infractions over the weekend were all released pending further court proceedings, he added.
