A 39-year-old Buffalo man who allegedly abducted an East Aurora woman at the point of what proved to be a fake handgun Tuesday morning remained jailed in the Erie County Holding Center without bail pending further Aurora Town Court proceedings.

Michael J. Reibel became the subject of a county-wide search when an East Aurora police officer arrived at the home of the alleged victim after a 911 call just after 6 a.m. Tuesday only to allegedly spot Reibel driving off with the woman at a high rate of speed.

Reibel was arrested by Buffalo police at a Buffalo auto repair shop later in the day without incident and was remanded to the downtown Buffalo lockup on felony second-degree kidnapping, second-degree burglary, first-degree aggravated criminal contempt, third-degree assault, fourth-degree criminal mischief and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon charges pending further town court proceedings.

East Aurora Detective Patrick Welch said Reibel, who was jailed without bail by Aurora Town Justice Douglas Marky, allegedly forced his way into the home of the victim and threatened her with an alleged imitation handgun.
