LOCKPORT – A Wheatfield man pleaded guilty in Niagara County Court Friday to his third felony driving while intoxicated conviction in the past five years.
Amanuel T. Adugnae, 33, of Plaza Drive, has admitted to violating probation terms on the other two cases. In a plea bargain Friday, Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon agreed to concurrent sentencing for the three cases, but that still means a maximum of seven years in prison for Adugnae when he is sentenced Aug. 14.
In the newest case, Adugnae was arrested May 1 in Wheatfield. That constituted a probation violation on convictions stemming from a Feb. 28, 2014 arrest in Erie County and a Nov. 19, 2010 arrest in North Tonawanda. That one came after Adugnae, a U.S. citizen born in Ethiopia, fled the scene of a City of Tonawanda fender-bender.
