More from Coste and LaRocca as they enter Buffalo Baseball Hall

Be sure to read my story in Friday's editions on Chris Coste and Greg LaRocca, Bisons teammates from the early 2000s who will be inducted into the Buffalo Baseball Hall of Fame before Friday's game in Coca-Cola Field.

It was great catching up to them this week and reminiscing about old stories. Of course, there's always more than you can fit into a newspaper story. Here's some more on their careers:

---Coste on starting at DH in Game One of the 2008 World Series for the Phillies at Tampa Bay: "In a weird way, I was very prepared for the World Series because of my path. Just to get to Triple-A for me was a huge accomplishment. In the big leagues, every game I played felt like a playoff game, whether it was a normal July game against the Mets at home on a Tuesday night or whatever. That felt like the World Series. When we got to Tampa, I knew what was going on but it didn't feel that much different. I felt prepared."

--Here's a link to my story from Sept, 9, 2001, the night Coste was ejected in the fourth inning of the Bisons' 19-inning loss to Scranton in Game Five of the IL semifinals.

---Here's a link to my story from Sept. 1, 2002, the night Coste caught the first 12 innings and pitched the final four in the Bisons' 6-5, 16-inning win at Syracuse. Another crazy night.

---LaRocca on cracking the big leagues for 39 games with Cleveland and San Diego and then playing several years in Japan (see career stats here): "It does so many things for confidence, just getting there. I got called up twice, with two different teams (San Diego and Cleveland). I did it and people are like, 'Really, you played in the big leagues?' and you can say you did. When you step back from it, I want to stay, to play here in the States and possibly get a another shot.

"But it was a great way to play the game being over in Japan. That was my big leagues. I'm very fortunate to have continued my career over there. Without it, my 40 games in the big leagues could have been it."

Coste and LaRocca will be joined in the Hall by longtime Bisons official scorer Kevin Lester, the director of athletics at Williamsville South High School. Click here to read Sunday's Inside Baseball column on Lester.
