LOCKPORT – Registered nurses at Lockport’s Eastern Niagara Hospital will receive pay raises totaling 8 percent over the next three years under terms of a contract the members ratified Thursday.
Michele Jerge, an administrative organizer for Service Employees International Union Local 1199, said the contract is retroactive to April 1. There is a 2 percent retroactive raise, another 1 percent pay increase on Oct. 1, a 2.5 percent raise April 1 and another 2.5 percent increase on April 1, 2017.
No changes were made in health insurance coverage, Jerge said. Counting full-time, part-time and per diem nurses, the contract covers 157 employees and was ratified by a nearly unanimous vote.
“Both parties worked constructively to reach a settlement and we are pleased with the outcome,” said Deborah Winslow-Schaber, the hospital’s human resources director. “The hospital is very appreciative of its nursing staff and their ongoing efforts to serve the community.”
Jerge said, “We believe this is a fair settlement for the registered nurses at Eastern Niagara Hospital-Lockport as they continue to provide quality health care to the community.”
