MIDDLEPORT – A pitbull mixed breed was ordered quarantined for 10 days on Wednesday after a report that it bit a woman on the leg last weekend.
The 25-year-old woman said the dog, owned by a family member in the 9400 block of Rose Road, bit her Saturday when she went into the house they share. She was treated for the bite and called the Niagara County Health Department to report the bite. On Wednesday she called the Niagara County Sheriff Department because the dog was still in the house acting aggressively and she was afraid to go inside.
A deputy said he could hear the dog barking and growling inside and contacted Town of Hartland Dog Control Officer Joel Winters who advised the owner, Fred House, that he needed to secure the dog and quarantine it for 10 days.
Winters told deputies that the dog had bitten other people in the past.
