David O. Parish Sr., a longtime financial analyst and Army veteran, died Sunday at Beechwood Continuing Care in Getzville. He was 68.
Mr. Parish was born in Buffalo and graduated from Amherst High School in 1964. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in business and an MBA at Canisius College.
He worked as a financial analyst at HSBC for 35 years before retiring in August 2007. He served in the U.S. Army Special Security Group stationed in Germany from 1968-1970. After serving in the military, he kept in touch with his unit and attended several reunions, including one he hosted in Niagara Falls in 2013.
He was active in the Central Amherst Little League, once serving as president, treasurer and a coach.
Mr. Parish also served for two years as treasurer of the Amherst Tigers Football Booster Club in the 1990s.
Mr. Parish was a member of the Dent Center Brain Tumor Support Group, and was a longtime season ticket holder of the Buffalo Bills. He attended two Super Bowls.
Survivors include his wife, the former Maureen A. Ball; two sons, David O. Parish II and Charles J. Parish; his mother, Mary Kay; two sisters, Molly Ann Rizzo and Nancy Dunnells; and two grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in Christ the King Church, Snyder.
