The Erie County Sheriff’s nine-week fall Citizens Academy begins Sept. 14, Sheriff Timothy B. Howard announced Monday.
Most of the classes are held at the Erie County Fire Training Academy, 3359 Broadway, Cheektowaga. The classes run approximately three hours on Monday nights.
The Citizens’ Academy is open to Erie County residents, 21 and older. The class is capped at 30 students.
Citizens will hear from the leaders of the Sheriff’s Office and learn how the office operates. They will also have live demonstrations of various units within the office and will experience some “hands-on” demonstrations with experts.
Interested residents can find the application online at erie.gov/sheriff. All applications must be completed, notarized and postmarked by July 24.
