Security officer on motorcycle injured in crash in downtown Buffalo

A private security officer on a motorcycle was injured in a crash with a Jeep that occurred shortly after 3 p.m. Monday at Delaware Avenue and Church Street.

The officer, who landed on the roof of the Jeep, apparently was on his way home from a nearby security job, headng south on Delaware Avenue and turning onto Church when the crash occurred, Buffalo police said.

Police said he was in good condition when he was taken by ambulance to an undisclosed hospital.

One officer at the scene said, “He couldn’t have landed any better (on the roof of the Jeep). He was sitting up in the ambulance when I brought him his items from the motorcyle. He said he was sore and joked, ‘Can I bring my bike with me.’”

The victim’s identity has not been released.
