Meth lab found in shoplifter’s car in Town of Tonawanda drugstore

A methamphetamine lab was discovered in the vehicle of a shoplifter who ran from a drugstore at Sheridan and Colvin on Thursday afternoon, Town of Tonawanda police reported.

Police, firefighters and state police responded to the Rite Aid drugstore, where they found meth crystals inside along with the materials and equipment to make more meth.

The suspect fled after being confronted by Rite Aid employees about the theft of merchandise.

Police have not located the suspect, who faces a slew of charges because of the theft, trespass, damage to store property and the drugs.

A haz-mat team cleaned up the scene after proper evidence procedures were followed.
