Block Club magazine will release its final issue Saturday.
The Buffalo-based, free publication launched in 2007 as a local lifestyle magazine. In 2011, it shifted focus to a more literary format that concentrated on stories about Buffalo’s evolution.
Block Club’s Summer 2015 issue is its 40th. It has distributed 750,000 copies and won four ADDY Awards for design and editorial content, as well as other national design awards.
A year after founding Block Club magazine, publisher Patrick Finan launched Block Club branding and strategy agency. That agency’s success overtook the magazine, which is ending so the company devote all its efforts to the branding company. Its clients include TED Conferences, the United Nations Foundation, HealthNow, BlueCross BlueShield of WNY, Hotel Henry, Freed Maxick, Say Yes to Education, 43North and Conflict Kitchen. It has received 11 ADDY awards as well as special recognition from Communication Arts.
