Goldberg Segalla partner Joseph M. Hanna was named lawyer of the year by the Bar Association of Erie County. Hanna, who leads the firm’s Sports and Entertainment Practice Group and chairs its diversity task force, was selected for the honor in recognition of his charitable work and ongoing efforts to promote diversity in the legal profession.
The New York Credit Union Association recently honored Cara Babicz, loan officer at Great Erie Federal Credit Union, with the Outstanding Young Professional Award. The statewide award honors individuals age 35 or younger whose commitment, hard work and achievements have enhanced their credit unions or the entire New York credit union movement. The New York Credit Union Association has served as the trade association for the state’s credit unions for 98 years.
Rotary District 7090 selected Kevin Crosby of Lockport to serve as governor until July 2016. Crosby has been a member of the Rotary Club of Buffalo-Sunrise since 2005 and served as its president in 2006-07. He is a partner at Full Circle Studios, a video and digital media production company located in Buffalo.
The New York Power Authority and mPrest, an Israeli software development firm, have been awarded a $900,000 grant to develop a system that can rapidly detect malfunctioning power transformers before they cause larger problems on the electric grid. The funding was provided from the Israel-U.S. Binational Industrial Research and Development Foundation. NYPA and mPrest will develop software for deployment on the NYPA transmission system, and plan to engage the Electric Power Research Institute for research assistance.
Modern Charm Schools, a charm school for teenage girls ages 12 to 17 years and for younger boys and girls ages 7 to 11 years, will hold its grand opening and ribbon cutting from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at 10225 Main St., Suite 14, Clarence.
