Think of guitarist Nils Lofgren and you may inevitably think of Bruce Springsteen, the man he’s sidled since joining the E Street Band over three decades ago.
But take him out of the Boss’ shadow and Lofgren’s career – whether solo, touring with Ringo Starr’s All-Starr Band or as a member of Neil Young’s Crazy Horse on “After the Gold Rush” and “Tonight’s the Night” – is more extensive than a roll-call live version of “Tenth Avenue Freeze Out.” This experience should enable the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer to cull from some diverse corners when he appears at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Seneca Niagara Casino Events Center (with multi-instrumentalist Greg Varlotta) for a stop on his solo acoustic tour.
Experienced in the acoustic-only format through solo albums like 1997 “Acoustic Live,” Lofgren will spend an evening in Niagara Falls familiarizing his E Street fans to early material with his band, Grin; pleasing attendees with solo material spanning nearly 50 years; and sharing some behind-the-scenes highlights from a career full of them.
Tickets are $35 (box office, Ticketmaster).
