NEWFANE – Plans to change the traffic alignment on Route 18 in Olcott will be the subject of a public information meeting to be held by the state Department of Transportation from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday in Newfane Town Hall, 2737 Main St.
The affected stretch of Route 18 will be between West Creek Road and a point just west of Transit Road, including the part that runs through the hamlet of Olcott. The road would be changed from four lanes to two lanes with a continuous center turning lane, which would be used by vehicles heading both east and west.
The meeting will be set up as an informal open house with displays of the proposed project, and DOT representatives will be present to receive comments and answer individual questions, and obtain comments from individuals, groups, local officials and agencies.
Information is available by calling Brendan Simon, DOT resident program manager, at 683-3476, extension 17.
