Actress Loretta Swit, best known for her role as Major Margaret “Hot Lips” Houlihan on the television show “M*A*S*H,” will be the guest of honor and an honorary grand marshal at the annual Pulaski Day parade on July 19 in Cheektowaga.
The parade honors General Casimir Pulaski, born in Warsaw, who became a Revolutionary War hero.
Swit, whose four grandparents were born in Poland, was a member of the “M*A*S*H” cast for all 11 seasons of the show, which ran from 1972 to 1983.
She will be joined by Grand Marshal Paul S. Piotrowski, a town justice completing his first four-year term on the bench, and Honorary Grand Marshal Urszula Gacek, who was named consul general of Poland in 2014 and, from 2011 to 2014, was ambassador and permanent representative of the Republic of Poland to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, France.
The parade, which begins at 1:30 p.m. on July 19, will make its way west on Walden Avenue from the Thruway Plaza, then north on Harlem Road to Cheektowaga Town Park.
