WHEATFIELD – Niagara County sheriff’s deputies took a second look at a suspicious man walking a bike late last week.
The suspect, Wesley T. Winn, 37, no address available, was stopped as he walked on Jagow and Walmore roads just before 4 p.m. Friday. Winn gave them what later proved to be a false name, reported that his bike was broken, and he was allowed to leave. But a half an hour later a Rebecca Drive woman called and said a man matching Winn’s description was walking along the road with her bicycle.
Deputies located Winn on Witmer Road and found two plastic bags with a white powder in his waistband, which he admitted was cocaine. He was also identified as the person who took the bicycle from the home on Rebecca Drive.
Winn was arraigned in Wheatfield Town Court on charges of second-degree burglary, fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and false personation. Bail was set at $2,000 cash or $4,000 bond.
