Letter: City of Good Neighbors lives up to its nickname

City of Good Neighbors lives up to its nickname

We all talk about the City of Good Neighbors in Buffalo. When an incident happens to you, it’s a proud and wonderful feeling. On June 20, the director’s staff of Ismailia Shrine had a boat trip with Niagara River Cruises. As we waited to board the boat, we observed two men cleaning their boat. I am sure they noticed our Shrine shirts. After we boarded, the captain announced on the loudspeaker that the two men on the other boat had paid the full amount of our trip.

After our ride, I spoke with the two men. They said that they were aware of the work the Shriners do. This money will go to our travel fund, which is used to transport children to the hospital for the treatment they need. What a big heart Western New York really has.
