Copper stolen from a vacant rental property

NIAGARA FALLS – The owner of a vacant rental property told police Sunday that he discovered someone had stolen copper wire from the basement. Total loss and damage were estimated at $5,000.

The victim said the property had been boarded up by city inspections and vacant for eight months. He told police he noticed the theft when he returned to the property on Thursday.

The wire was removed from the ceiling of the basement and the larger wires from the circuit breaker box.
